Easter is Happening!

Easter is Happening! How do we know? Yesterday was the vernal equinox which is seen by nature lovers as the first day of Spring – it’s finally official, people. As the weather warms and the days grow longer, lovely signs of the new season abound – petals are dropping (even the desert is in bloom), pastels are popping (on the fashion runways and beyond), Easter greetings are flying, and last and not least…our very own Masha’s husband (and frequent collaborator) is about to hit the small screen as Jesus in the Canadian miniseries, ‘Daughters of Eve‘ on Sunday (those not in Canada can watch live online at Yes TV). Easter is Happening indeed! Enjoy our collage of seasonal faves this year including a preview of the future – a page from 2017 Masha calendar.

Did you feel it? Did you feel the Leap? We leapt! If you just so happened to have been born on Leap Day, Happy Birthday for the first time in four years! That means that all of you 40 year olds are just now turning 10 years old! Would you like a Star Wars or Frozen-themed party? Either way, we’re up for it! Click below for some of our favorite birthday greetings for the kid (or adult) in you!
Happy Leap Birthday Cards
But, why do Leap Year and Leap Day even happen at all? Bustle had a great little feature on why Leap Day is, including fun tidbits about how Leap Day was traditionally a day that women could propose to men (the scandal!). Scientifically speaking, however, Leap Day is our solution to the problem that it actually takes the Earth 365 days, five hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds to completely revolve around the Sun. You know how we love a good cosmos story…The next leap day won’t be until the year 2020, so we hope you had a fabulous time living it up. These two did:

Inspiration: Desert Muse

Our desert muse: found during a swift trip to Joshua Tree for birthday festivities, via Coachella by way of Louis Vuitton and the Integratron. An environment that rarely sees rain is surprisingly lush in inspiration for creativity. The color palette alonerich with sienna, sage and slate makes any wanderlust want to pack a suitcase and “git along little dogies” to the nearest desert sunset. We were absolutely taken with the cacti, Mojave horizons, Burning Man, and not to mention haute fashion. Our interpretation is less textile, more #watercolormischief: Loveland Camel (part of the Loveland Box Set) and Coyote Couple. If you’re feeling the heat scroll down and click over to check out our desert cards, then take a look through our southwestern pictorial.

Gift Ideas for your Valentine

Looking for gift ideas for your valentine (or for yourself)? An ideal Valentine’s Day present must check a few boxes: Like on any holiday, it needs to be thoughtful and heartfelt; it also needs to align with whatever relationship stage you and your giftee are at; and it has to have that special touch of romance. But above all, it’s the unexpectedness that truly makes a gift stand out. Check out some of our Love Day picks below.
Gift Ideas for your Valentine
1. Pamper those sexy lips with little sweets that provide protection from the sun. TONYMOLY Mini Lip Balm SPF 15.

2. Forget the heart-shaped box of ordinary chocolate; Care for the health and tastebuds of your beloved with these eatingEvolved coconut butter cups that miraculously have only five ingredients — coconut, cacao, cacao butter, coconut sugar, and Himalayan sea salt — and have to be tasted to be believed.

3. If love is a journey to self-knowledge, here’s something fascinatingly intimate. 23andMe offers an easy at home test kit to decode one’s traits and ancestry. That is if your giftee is into that kind of thing.

4. Adopt an adorable plant even those without a green thumb can maintain.

5. A Driftwood docking station brings an elegant woodland touch to the indoor life. We think that nature and romance always go together.

6. How about something spicy to touch your love’s lips over and over? Our Hot Stuff mug can be ordered on any charged device from society6.com.

7. If you love writing more than texts, consider our LoveLand puzzle cards. You can spread your message over 8 love letters that complete a fairyland scene – how romantic is that?

Artists we love: Edina Pličanić

.

Happy 2016!!! ’Tis the season when many of us flock to see the ageless holiday tradition that is Nutcracker, and another generation of little girls starts dreaming their sugar plum ballerina dreams. Alluring grace, enticing mystique, personal magic, instinctive expressiveness and the technical wizardry to draw the public with her into unvoiceable passions and dreams – these qualities separate the handful of true ballerinas from the legions of mere ballet-dancers. We’re very honored to chat with one of such stars for this installment of Artists We Love, Edina Pličanić is a principal dancer of the national ballet of Zagreb who combines talent, technique, brains, beauty, artistic ambition and interpretative brilliance in a single package. Read on for some twinkling inspiration.
