Mother’s Day NEWS: Masha + Mom Collab

Happiest Mother’s Day (and, of course Cinco de Mayo)! We hope you’re celebrating with all the mother figures in your life this Sunday. We’re so excited to officially announce a new project, and because it’s a collaboration between Masha and her super mom, the timing seems right! It’s not exactly news (unless you’ve been hiding under a rock that is) that adult coloring books are still all the rage, so here’s a preview of the title page from Color Me Enchanted, published by Houghton Mifflin and available spring 2017. This book will feature intricate scenes to color from fairy tales around the world; famous (such as The Princess and the Pea (Masha’s childhood fave), Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty) and obscure, including brief quotes from the original texts to help bring the scenes to life. Interspersed between the vignettes are pages of luscious patterns. The order of the quotes and scenes is arranged into a larger overall narrative. Ready for some enchanting adult coloring action? We can’t for you to show us your colors! Until then, the wizards are busy painstakingly drawing away every delicious fairy detail… (Seriously, it’s so much work!)

New Year New Cards part 1

Happiest wishes for 2016!
New Year = New Cards here in the studio. First fresh treat for you is a totally novel concept and a world premier (!) – collectible cards that together complete a fun fairyland scene (which also spells LOVE, just in time for the next holiday). Inspired by our customers’ habit of keeping Masha cards to frame as art, the LoveLand series lets one collect a whole grouping to display, or to send one by one until the recipient collects all 8. Or, simply use them individually as all-occasion cards. When we think outside the card, the possiblities art endless.

Our LoveLand series is precisely and artistically engineered to encourage delicious, on-going correspondence by enabling you (or your giftee) to send or give these cards one by one… over any length of time. Be a Cupid and spread the Love by keeping those intriguing flames going and the art of the written letter alive this February (hello V Day) and beyond! Available as singles or 8-card boxed sets.

But wait, there’s even more…

Cosmic Energy + Watercolor Mischief

This week, cosmic energy + watercolor mischief combine as we celebrate some planetary happenings going on! August 2015 is a lively month for astronomical events. Coming up next week, on August 12th and 13th, we will experience the Perseids Meteor Shower (check out this article by the Los Angeles Times to find out the best places to observe the shower), when we will be able to observe up to 60 meteors per hour! Up next, on the 14th, the sky blackens with a New Moon, and last but certainly not least, we blast into a Supermoon on the 29th! To honor the show our galaxy is about to put on for us, we decided to round up a few of our celestial watercolor greeting cards. See below:

Second Row: Coyote Couple, Robot Space Girl

Not to be outdone by the galactic happenings, Masha brought her own star power to the table. Check out this fabulous Stargazer headband she made, inspired by silent film starlets–coincidentally, just in time for the meteors! Two pavé crystal stars above the temples with a deco star adorning the forehead:

Paper Muse: Eliza Brown

We’re starting a brand new series here on masha.comPaper Muse, to spotlight people and shops we love to work with in the stationery industry! Today we’re so excited to chat with Eliza Brown, Retail Manager of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. This beautiful museum makes us feel like kids in a candy store for two big reasons. First, picture books is a major enduring love (something we very much share with Eliza) and influence on Masha’s art and this place exhibits original works from the very best. Second, the founder – the great Eric Carle wrote a beautiful endorsement on Masha’s first pop-up picture book Razzle-Dazzle Ruby – a dream come true! Read on for a glimpse of what it takes to run a well-curated shop and what’s coming up next in this magical place.

ARTISTS WE LOVE: Natasha Wheat

We have another fantastic installment of ARTISTS WE LOVE to kick off 2015. In addition to her life-long fine art practice, Natasha Wheat is a master jeweler who also happens to be one of our favorite style muses. This native Angelino was kind enough to answer our questions and share the photos below. Read on to find out how she crosses disciplines with such thoughtful grace. Hint: it just might have something to do with a trick she learned in kindergarten or a suitcase full of notes from her rockstar husband.

Artists We Love: Nichole Van Beek

We are so excited about our new series, Artists We Love, that we couldn’t wait to get another installment up on the blog. This week, we’re chatting with Nichole Van Beek, a talented artist living and working in New York, plus–a friend and classmate of Masha’s at Cooper Union. Nichole will be telling us about what inspires her, who keeps her company while she works (hint: you may know their voices!) and about her upcoming projects.
