Dubrovnik Palette: Orange Hue or Two

Masha has been jet-setting here and there throughout the beautiful landscape of Croatia: from the coast of Stari Grad, Insel Hvar to the orange-tiled roofs of Dubrovnik. If you haven’t had the chance to visit or even learn about Dubrovnik, you are in for a real treat. The roofs of the city tell the story of a sort of birth: the reconstruction of a famed and well-loved village after the destruction of war. Sometimes referred to as “the jewel of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik was attacked in 1991 by the Yugoslavian People’s Army during the Croatian War of Independence as a direct hit to the country’s most beautiful and tourist-attracting city. Between the years of 1995 and 1999, the roofs were re-tiled in a vibrant orange color which has made the city even more attractive to foreigners.

We were inspired by the orange and golden hues, especially now that the leaves are beginning to turn to into a rich, autumnal palette. In celebration, we pulled a few of our warmest, watercolor cards from Masha’s collection to share. We hope you enjoy. Bon voyage!
